We extracted national expenditure data for cannabis products from the Quarterly Retail Commodity Survey. This repeated cross-sectional survey breaks down monthly retail sales by commodity type to provide estimates of personal expenditure. Retailers are classified using the North American Industry Classification System.

We extracted sales data for cannabis retailers from Statistics Canada’s Monthly retail trade survey (MRTS). This repeated cross-sectional survey estimates monthly sales through retailers identified through the Canadian Business Registry. Retailers are classified into different industries using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS 2017).
